A word from our trustees

“As a Governor of a small prep school I saw the positive impact on the children when we transformed the very limited sports facilities to include a sports hall, AstroTurf pitches and an outdoor classroom. The motivation of the children to try new activities, the impact on their ability to learn, the friendships created and the pride they have in both themselves and their school is a joy to witness.

As a mother I have seen both my children benefit enormously from sport. My daughter’s confidence rocketed after winning a National swimming race and my son developed great friendships, teamwork and an understanding of what commitment really means from the various sports he played. Having been ill for the last two years, my son has experienced what life is like without sport. This experience has really made us appreciate what it must be like for children who do not have access to sport. The impact on their physical and mental health, the alternatives they choose to occupy their time, the lost opportunities to bond and make friendships; all really tough.

For all these reasons I am passionate about supporting The Sporting Chance Foundation and getting more children trying sport and finding an activity that really strengthens them and helps them to be the very best version of themselves.”
